Renée K Barsa is a licensed acupuncturist with over 13 years experience in private practice, and is the Director here at WellPath Acupuncture & Healing Arts in Cary, North Carolina. After training, practicing, and teaching acupuncture in California, Renée has been dedicated to bringing that knowledge and practice skill here to the Triangle Area for the last year.
Renée graduated with her Master’s Degree from one of the oldest and most respected acupuncture schools in the nation, the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine. This four year graduate level program focuses on training students to see patients as a whole person through the lens of eastern medicine, and to address the root causes of dis-ease rather than simply masking symptoms. Her undergraduate degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Vermont provided a strong background in the natural sciences that is at the foundation of how Renée views health, balance, and wellness on a human scale.
From an early age, Renée has found great fulfillment in community service and volunteer work. She believes strongly in supporting and empowering people on their paths. While still in graduate school, Renée was one of the founding members of a local non-profit called Healing Opportunities, Inc., an organization dedicated to serving the holistic health needs of the community. She wrote grants to support programs such as Compassionate Care for Caregivers, Yoga in the Cancer Center, Children’s Yoganesha Program, and Hospice Acupuncture Support. The organization evolved to support Integrative Medicine and educational programs in the Santa Barbara community, and Renée still serves on the Board of Directors today. She is also a volunteer with organizations such as Acupuncturists Without Borders, NADA, and the Medical Reserve Corps.
Renée has a natural gift to assess and address a patient’s health needs with professionalism, kindness, and compassion, and is very grateful for the opportunity to be of service to our community. Her extensive background in Therapeutic and Yin Yoga enhances her ability to treat the entire individual gently and holistically. She currently holds National, California, and North Carolina Acupuncture Board Certifications, and is a national leader in the integration of ear acupuncture for trauma and PTSD into existing disaster healthcare networks across the country.
