Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a dynamic, holistic treatment modality that originated in China and has been practiced for over 5,000 years. Treatment involves the placemSmiling young man in an acupuncture therapyent of very thin, sterilized needles at strategic points on the body. This helps to relieve pain and restore balance for a wide variety of physical and emotional health challenges by correcting the patterns of energy flow (Qi) through the body.

From a Western perspective, acupuncture stimulates nerves, muscles, and connective tissue, helping boost your body's natural painkillers and blood flow. Modern research shows that acupuncture leads to the release of various neurotransmitters and hormones that affect most of the body's systems.

Utilizing a very gentle Japanese style acupuncture technique, sessions at WellPath are typically quite relaxing and restorative.

Does acupuncture hurt?

People often associate needle pain with their past experience with hypodermic needles. Fortunately, the two are very different! Acupuncture needles are thin, very flexible, and solid filiform in shape. Close to 10 acupuncture needles fit inside the tip of one hypodermic needle. Patients may experience a mild tingling, sensation of fullness, or warmth, along with an increased sense of relaxation. Some patients feel a brief sensation when the needles are applied, while others feel nothing at all. These are all quite normal.

We have extensive experience working with patients that are nervous about needles, and will work as slowly and gently as needed for her patients to feel comfortable along every step of the way.
