Moxibustion is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapy that uses moxa as a means of warming and stimulating circulation. Moxa is made from dried mugwort and has been utilized in Eastern medicine treatments for over 2500 years. It is a common therapy in Japan, China, Korea and throughout southeast Asia.
Moxa is often pressed into stick form, and heated over an area of the body to create a deep warming effect. Moxibustion can be used to heat acupuncture needles, and to treat cold conditions. Medical communities around the world have studied its impact on the human body for well over a century. Moxa can also be an effective agent in helping to turn breech babies when applied early in a pregnancy.
