Digestive Issues

As practitioners of Chinese medicine, care providers at Cary’s WellPath Acupuncture & Healing Arts adopt a holistic approach to the therapies we provide. Our aim is to maintain health by restoring balance of body functions. In our experience, one treatment category of note that has benefited from this approach is digestive issues. Unfortunately, many folks suffer a range of gastrointestinal problems that can include frequent nausea and vomiting, as well as functional disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, diarrhea, peptic ulcers, Crohn’s disease, postoperative ileus and gall stones.

010309_0800_1355_nslpp_397x600Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) utilize a holistic treatment protocol that is truly foreign to Western medicine, which is makes it difficult to draw comparisons between the two treatment methods. What is beyond dispute however, is the extensive documentation that has taken place by contemporary scientists. A number of studies, mostly reported in Eastern literature, draw on human and animal studies to conclude that acupuncture is effective in the treatment of a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders.

The first instinct of many people at the onset of gastrological discomfort is to reach for the anti-acid tablet or over-the-counter bromides that provide temporary relief. At WellPath Acupuncture, we strongly recommend the natural, holistic approach that aims for a permanent solution.

We welcome the opportunity to share more information with you about the effective role acupuncture and TCM can play in the treatment of peptic ulcers, irritible bowel syndrome and the full range of gastrointestinal problems.
